In August of 2009, Rick created his own Dublin, Ohio-based commercial brokerage company called Smith Realty Partners LLC. His desire is to continue providing clients the most advanced professional level of commercial real estate services. With more than 30 years of industry experience, Rick has leased, sold or acquired more than 10 million square feet of office, retail, industrial and warehouse space. He has executed real estate investment transactions totaling more than $900 million, which includes land acquisitions and development.
A graduate of The Ohio State University, Rick served as Captain of the OSU men’s basketball team in 1979. He was awarded the John Havlicek Most Inspirational Player Award in that same year. Continuing his affiliation with Ohio State, he served as Graduate Assistant Coach for the 1980 season and remains involved with the program as Past President of the OSU Athletic Alumni Association (Varsity “O”) and a past board member. In addition, he served on the selection committee that chose Ohio State’s men’s basketball coach Thad Matta.
Additionally, Rick can be found serving as a basketball color analyst on Ohio News Networks Buckeye Blitz sports program, 10 TV’s Wall-to-Wall Sports and QFM 96.3 Torg & Elliott Morning Show.
Rick resides in Dublin and has three daughters, Kayleigh, Anessa and Cassady.
JACK HOOPES- CHIEF FINANCIAL ADVISOR
Jack brings over 25 years of Real Estate experience to Smith Realty Partners. Jack’s Real Estate experience starts with a foundation in Real Estate Development and Finance. With the Vantage Companies, Jack was part of a 4 person development team responsible for site acquisition, land use planning, building design, finance structure, and overall project success. Jack was tapped to lead the New Jersey division of Vantage Companies, where he was in charge of a 450 million dollar portfolio. Recently, Jack redeveloped over 300,000 square feet of turn of the century office buildings in downtown Columbus, Ohio into 170 luxury residential condominiums. Jack is also the former CEO of PCS Realty, Inc., a local Commercial Management and Leasing Company. In addition, Jack served as the Senior VP of Marketing for the Galbreath Huff Organization and was Director of Marketing in the Mid East Region for Equity Office, a Sam Zell organization. Jack has two grown sons and resides in Dublin, Ohio.
FRANK SCHMITZ-VICE PRESIDENT
Frank’s involvement in investments and acquisitions has made him a natural for those seeking the best in Commercial representation. In the past Fifteen years, he has focused exclusively on multi-family investments, business acquisitions, and leasing commercial property, both retail and office as well as land sales including multiple ownership assemblages and has successfully risen to be one of the most respected Commercial representatives in the central Ohio area now representing Smith Realty Partners.
Frank’s previous work history has allowed him valuable working knowledge in various fields within the Commercial Real Estate industry. With ten plus years in the Transportation Logistics Industry along with 5 years as the Director of Store Operations for a local retail firm and a business owner, only adds to his ability to help with his client’s decision making process for their specific Commercial needs.
Despite the time the real estate business takes, Frank finds time to find satisfying balance in life by coaching youth baseball and as treasurer of a local high school wrestling and soccer associations. He volunteers his time and financial assistance to many local organizations in the community.

Bob has actively been engaged in commercial real estate transactions in excess of 25 Million dollars. Bob excels in Tenant Representation and Landlord Representation through attention to detail, providing extended value-added services, knowledge of financing, vendor management and expertise in moving and furniture planning. His experience has allowed him to now serve 2nd and 3rdgenerations of clients because of his strong, retention based business approach.
Prior to joining Smith Realty Partners, Bob was Vice President at PSB Realty Advisors. As a business owner, Bob founded and was the Principal of Cable Solutions, Inc. for nearly fifteen years. Bob’s entrepreneurial spirit led a successful domestic and international voice and data business which resulted in an opportunity for him to sell his business and pursue a career in real estate. Under Bob’s leadership, he recruited and staffed a sales and production team and led by example in forming and maintaining client and vendor relationships.
Bob provides expertise from a business owner’s perspective with his clients to provide invaluable insight for real estate strategies. His practical experience began in his role as a Sales Manager for the Midwest Region of Triangle Cable Corporation and as the Vice President of Operations for Brics Incorporated in Columbus, Ohio. His achievements in these roles included increasing overall corporate gross margin while managing five restaurant locations.
Bob attended The Ohio State University and received his Real Estate licensing education through Hondros College. Bob is a member of the Columbus Board of Realtors.
MATT BYRNE- VICE PRESIENT
Prior to joining Smith Realty Partners as Vice President, Matt Byrne was a Principal with PSB Realty Advisors. Matt has more than 25 years in diverse and complex commercial brokerage and development experience. He has negotiated real estate transactions involving office developments, major retail development, peripheral out-lot projects, light industrial parks, land assemblage, multi-family properties, site selection and most notably development of several signature golf course communities. In leading multi-million dollar transactions, he was involved in representation of Buyers, Sellers, Landlords and Tenants which developed his in-depth knowledge of negotiations with governmental agencies, financial institutions, construction groups and related real estate professionals. Matt’s many career accomplishments have earned him tremendous respect and trust from his clients and amongst industry peers.
As an entrepreneur and business owner, Matt was the Principal/Owner of Links Real Estate Company, an ongoing commercial, industrial and investment brokerage business prior to starting Pickett Holstlaw Byrne Real Advisors (PHB Realty Advisors). Matt initiated Links Real Estate Company in 1992 and simultaneously became a Principal for Bedrock Development Group. He continues to be engaged with Bedrock, supervising a vertically integrated construction management firm. Links was the catalyst for the acquisition and development of a number of high profile Central Ohio projects including: the Ohio University Pickerington branch campus, Battelle Memorial Institute Research and Development facility, The Scott’s Company, and Marcus Theatres. Matt was an integral executive in the development of Arlington Falls Business Park. Through the aforementioned projects, Matt gained a significant understanding of development of turnkey projects from their acquisitions to occupancy.
Prior to starting Links Real Estate, Matt spent 5 years as Vice President of Midwest Golf Group, a development company of signature golf courses (Nicklaus, Zoeller, Rodriguez) and master planned communities. Matt gained invaluable real estate and financing knowledge in the assemblage of land (+500 acres) collaborating with governmental zoning and infrastructure issues, bond financing and construction management of the golf course communities.
Matt is an alumnus of The Ohio State University, College of Business, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Real Estate. Matt has been engaged in appraising a wide range of properties as a General Appraiser for over twenty years and received numerous commendations for his community contributions. Matt is active in coaching various youth league sports and volunteering for the school and church.
RANKY SOKOL- AGENT
As a commercial real estate agent Randy brings a level of value and expertise to his clients that is unsurpassed. His keen knowledge of the real estate business is built upon 30 years of experience in the restaurant industry, 16 of which were spent as president of Tee Jaye’s Country Place Restaurants in central Ohio where he still retains ownership. From small independent restaurants to large operators, Randy handles everything from selling to site selection and negotiation to owning and operating.
Randy has served as president of the Ohio Restaurant Association and is the past president of the Central Ohio Restaurant Association. He serves on the Board of Trustees for the Ohio Restaurant Association, National Federation of Independent Business, Children’s Hospital, and served with the Ohio Hospitality Coalitions. Graydon D. Webb joined Smith Realty Partners, LLC as a licensed Ohio Realtor with a deep understanding of retail/commercial development with a focus tenant representation and single net tenant properties. Graydon has an extensive background and understanding of the value of branding, retail chain strategies, operations, franchising and development. Graydon has also been actively involved in public and private debt and equity financings.
Upon graduation from The Ohio State University, Graydon was encouraged by Dave Thomas to become a founding member of the team that grew Wendy’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers from a small Columbus, Ohio hamburger shop to a leading American quick service restaurant chain. During his 10-year tenure, Graydon served as Vice President of Franchise Sales leading strategic planning and negotiations for all major U.S. markets as well as Canada, Japan and the Caribbean. Graydon is founder and former Chairman of the quick service restaurant chain G. D. Ritzy’s.
Since 1994, Graydon has been Executive Managing Director of Chapman Partners, LLC and has advised various clients including: Bunge Foods, KFC, Touch Choice Industries, Johnny Rocket’s Krispy Kreme, I Can’t Believe It’s Yogurt, Total Image Specialists, Rally’s, Dippin’ Dots, Manhattan Bagels, Better Baked Foods, St. Louis Bread (Panera), the”V”.TV, Max & Erma, etc.
Graydon is a former trustee of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, the Columbus Center for Science and Industry, The Ohio State University College of Human Sciences and the Capital University Graduate School of Business. Graydon’s wife Terri is a licensed residential realtor focusing on transaction for purchasers and sellers of exceptional homes throughout the Greater Columbus Area. They have two (2) sons, Bryan and Corey, graduates of The Ohio State University and Ohio University respectively
PATRICK PIERCE- VICE PRESIDENT COMMERCIAL SALES AND LEASING
Patrick specializes in commercial sales and leasing and spent the last 15 years brokering deals between central Ohio business owners to help them move excess inventory and maximize profits. He spent two years at the University of Dayton with a major in Computer Engineering and received his MBA from Ohio Dominican University. Patrick works tirelessly to find properties that will add value to his clients and puts in the extra effort to be sure the listings he manages have the best opportunity to be leased or sold. He prides himself on keeping his clients happy and informed so each real estate deal is handled with the same care and due diligence from beginning to end.
When Patrick is not working on deals for his clients, he enjoys giving back to the community with his time and donations. He has participated in the Polar Plunge for the past 5 years to raise money for Ohio Special Olympics and has donated his time to the Jimmy Crum Charity Golf Outing to support Ohio Special Olympics, Easter Seals and Recreation Unlimited, three children’s charities that make a big difference in Central Ohio. COREY M. HOOVER- VICE PRESIDENT INVESTMENT SALES AND LEASING
A graduate of the University of Kansas, Corey earned a degree in Economics with emphasis in Communication. Corey has established relationships with hotel developers, and worked on the procurement of raw land for mixed use development. Corey's education, along with his experience as a Project Manager for a general contractor, provides him with knowledge of the construction and development of Real Estate. His experiences allow him to bring to the table valuable knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the Commercial Real Estate and Development Industry. Corey prides himself in his strive to understand and find the best solution for his clients wants and needs.
